Membaca Bab 1 buku Sirry menemukan kita dengan berbagai rujukan yang terdiri dari penerbitan oleh ramai akademia. Salah satunya adalah buku tulisan Richard Bell 'The origin of Islam in its Christian environment'. Buku terbitan asal tahun 1926. Diulang terbit oleh Routledge tahun 1968.  Richard Bell (1876-1952) adalah pensyarah bahasa Arab di Edinburgh Uni dan bersara pada 1947. Beliau hidup pada period Abbasid dikuasai pemerintahan Buyid. Al-Jabbar merupakan ulama dan juga Qadi pendokong aliran Muktazilah. Gelaran yang diberi kepada beliau adalah Qadi al-Quddat (makna lainnya adalah Ketua Hakim atau Chief Magistrate). Hari ni menyambung baca buku Muhammad Heir's oleh Brockopp. Buku yang terakhir diselak mungkin sekitar sebulan atau dua bulan yang lepas. Brockopp turut merujuk banyak buku yang lain. Antaranya adalah buku oleh Michael Lecker (b.1951). Buku Lecker bertajuk Muslims, Jews, and Pagan: Studies of Early Islamic Medina terbitan Brill 1995. Ada sebuah lagi buku Lecker dengan judul hampir sama ' People, Tribes and Society in Arabia Around the Time of Muhammad'. Dua buku ini pernah saya pinjam dari librari lama dulu. Namun tak dapat nak habis baca kerana waktu itu memanglah sibuk dengan tugas hakiki. Bagusnya bila baca buku Brockopp beliau muatkan juga rumusan apa yang yang ditulis oleh Lecker.
