Well it is nice to know McD at some places start offering halal menus. McD in Melbourne has launch such service. Read the reports here -  Report 1  and  McD in UK  also giving a try of having the same.  In Melbourne, McDonald's consulted Muslim leaders before introducing halal products at its Brunswick East and St Albans stores. Yes, that topic again - McDonaldization.  But why? Well, if we search on Yahoo there were almost 60,000 entry talking about it (as at late Aug '06). Book on it was published, revised and uses as textbook in many university courses. An example of such is offered in a  sociology  subject at csuchico. I've posted  an entry  about its meaning and priciples. But will repeat here using material from another source. The “McDonaldization” of Society Where does the term McDonaldization originally come from?  - The term McDonaldization was coined by George Ritzer who wrote a book about this essay. He saw a parallel between the thoughts in Max Weber’s theory and the system of McDonalds. Weber was a sociologist who followed a fast development in the western world getting more and more rational. While surfing on the net I found several good sites which gave coverage and promote McD. One of the interesting site is  mcchronicles . [The last entry was on Dec 2011]. Photos on McD were aplenty .. the best choice is  flickr . The person behind this is named  mckroes , and we suggest you check out the interesting  collection of McDonald's store images . What is McDonaldization? McDonaldization is the term invented by George Ritzer to describe a sociological phenomenon that is happening in our society. Definition:  the process by which the principles of the fast-food restaurant are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as of the rest of the world. Four Goals of McDonaldization: Efficiency, Calculability, Predictability, Control 1.  Efficiency    -- Rational calculation of best cost effective mode of production.
