Ada dua tokoh Abi Du'ad yang terkenal pada zaman Abbasid. Pertama nama Imam Ahmad ibn Abi Du'ad. Beliau menjawat jawatan Qadi Besar pada zaman Abbasid al-Ma'mun, al-Mu'tasim dan al-Wathiq. Ahmd ibn Abi Duad tokoh yang kuat mendokong Mu'tazilah. Beliau juga yang menjalan mihnah dan meghukum Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal. Seorang lagi tokoh nama Abi Duad adalah Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Abi Du'ad, anak lelaki Qadi Ahmad ibn Abi Du'ad. Kedua anak-beranak, Ahmad bin Abi Du'ad dan Muhan Ibn Duad meninggal dunia pada tahun sama iaitu 854M.
