Stephen Humphreys, a history professor at UC Santa Barbara, has written and spoken about a variety of topics related to Islamic history, including:
  • The formative period of Islam: Humphreys has studied the period from around 600–900 CE. 
  • The Crusades: Humphreys has written about the Crusades, which had a significant impact on the eastern Mediterranean. 
  • Middle Eastern international relations: Humphreys has studied the international relations of the Middle East in the 20th century. 
  • Contemporary Islamist movements: Humphreys has researched contemporary Islamist movements.

Watak Robin Hood memang suatu yang sudah sedia diketahui ramai. Namun, watak Robin Hood juga pernah ada di Malaya. Beliau adalah Panglima Nayan yang diceritakan kisahnya di Negeri Kedah. Sebuah buku mengenai Panglima Nayan pernah terbit pada 1960. Buku terbitan Sinaran Bros Buku asal Panglima Nayan terbitan 1960 sudah tiada lagi di pasaran. Kalau nak baca pun mungkin cari kat librari. Itu pun kalau ada. Selain Panglima Nayan ada beberapa lagi 'Robin Hood' lain sekitar Kedah. Mereka adalah Awang Poh, Salleh Tui dan Din Prum. Pada period 1909 hingga 1929 nama mereka selalu disebut oleh orang kampung setempat dan juga oleh para pegawai British. Namun kisah Panglima Nayan dan yang lain itu masih boleh dibaca dalam versi bahasa Inggeris. Buku tulisan Dr Cheah Boon Kheng yang pernah mengajar di Jabatan Sejarah USM. Kejayaan misi Apollo yang sangat bermakna adalah bila mana Neil Amstrong dan Aldrin menjejak kaki mereka di Bulan. Mu'tazilite Ibn Abi Du'ad (d.854M)

Ada dua tokoh Abi Du'ad yang terkenal pada zaman Abbasid. Pertama nama Imam Ahmad ibn Abi Du'ad. Beliau menjawat jawatan Qadi Besar pada zaman Abbasid al-Ma'mun, al-Mu'tasim dan al-Wathiq. Ahmd ibn Abi Duad tokoh yang kuat mendokong Mu'tazilah. Beliau juga yang menjalan mihnah dan meghukum Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal. Seorang lagi tokoh nama Abi Duad adalah Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Abi Du'ad, anak lelaki Qadi Ahmad ibn Abi Du'ad. Kedua anak-beranak, Ahmad bin Abi Du'ad dan Muhan Ibn Duad meninggal dunia pada tahun sama iaitu 854M.
