In 2025, the original founder's family (Raffaella Simoni Malaguti and Gian Luca Malaguti Simoni) began restoring production in Bologna, Italy, under the name OMAS Bologna.
The brand previously went into liquidation in 2016 after being owned by LVMH and then a Chinese firm.
The current market features new OMAS products from the Zhang/ASC partnership, while the Simoni family is re-establishing the brand within the EU.

The daughter and grandson of OMAS founder Armando Simoni (Raffaella Simoni Malaguti and Gian Luca Malaguti Simoni) have been working to bring the brand back to its roots in Bologna, Italy, with 2025 marking a significant, authentic return for their efforts.
The new management is producing regular and limited editions under the "OMAS Bologna" name, featuring piston-filling mechanisms, 14k gold nibs, and ebonite feeds. Models include the "Ametista Profondo," "Azzurro Diamante," and "Grigio Luminoso".
The Omas Bologna Ametista Profondo fountain pen is named to honor the brand's heritage, city of origin and color. Combining "Amestista Profondo", Italian for "Deep Amethyst", describing its rich purple Diamondcast resin.
