Ada sebuah penempatan khusus untuk orang Melayu dibina di Ipoh. Penempatan nama Kampung Sungai Rokam. Dibina pada 1960. Somewhere in the late 1960s, this was part of a low-cost housing scheme in Sungai Rokam (off Gopeng Road) in Ipoh. These houses were constructed mainly of timber, following the traditional Malay-styled home. There were about 410 units of such houses which covered over 100 acres of land. Bulan April ini baca buku tentang Turki. Banyaklah disebut Istanbul. Mana datangnya nama Istanbul? Datang dari perkataan Greek 'eis tin polin' rupanya. "eis tin polin" means "to the City." Sambil keluar minum pagi tadi nampak ada sebuah bisnes baru bakal buka kat taman ni. Bukanlah bisnes jualan tapi bisnes khidmat kesihatan. Sebuah klinik bakal dibuka. Signboard nya sudah siap pasang. Klinik nama Klinik Sihat. Senang dan bermakna namanya. Klinik bila buka akan menyedia khidmat 24 jam. Dulu lot kedai ni tempat bisnes tayar dan servis kereta. Lama dan banyak tahun juga bisnes mereka beroperasi. Awal tahun baru ni mereka berpindah ke premis lain. Ganti pulak dengan klinik. Selain Klinik Sihat sudah ada dua klinik lain yang memang sudah beroperasi kat deret sama. Ada dua dua bisnes farmasi juga di sekitar. Ada klinik pergigian juga. Maknanya bisnes klinik dan farmasi yang semakin menunjuk potensi dan bersaing sesama mereka.  Klinik Sihat - - - - -

Kita sudah masuk bulan Syawal. Sepanjang Ramadan yang baru berlalu sempatlah saya ke beberapa masjid di UK. Bukanlah saya pergi sana saya melawat secara maya sahaja. Tepatnya melawat melalui membaca sebuah buku. Tak perlu beli tikit penerbangan dan tak perlu sewa penginapan. Buku mencerita pengalaman pengkaji sosiologi British, nama Ed Husain, melawat masjid merata UK. Banyak yang boleh kita pelajari dari catatan Husain. Hal yang melibat cara kehidupan masyarakat Muslim UK dan juga integrasi mereka dengan warga British lainnya. Saya mulakan dengan hal pakaian. Setiap masjid UK yang Husain lawati dia cerita cara pakaian jemaah ke masjid. Banyaklah nama dan perkataan dapat kita tahu.  English ni memang penuh dengan vocabulary mereka bagi segala macam benda.Termasuk pakaian. Ada berbagai nama yang disebut oleh Husain. Banyak perkataan asal dari Asia Selatan (India dan Pakistan) dan juga dari perkataan Arab. Dieja ikut sebutan setempat. Ada pakaian nama salwar dan kameez. Ada nama thaw...
